Sagartia ornata

Description: This species is usually green or brown and rarely exceeds 15mm across its base. It was considered to be synonymous with Sagartia troglodytes until recently, but is a distinct species according to enzyme electrophoresis results.

Habitat: Shallow water and lower shore, often amongst mussels.

Distribution: Widespread around the British Isles, but records are few due to previous synonymy with Sagartia troglodytes.
