Site Description: The site was located south of a large headland off the south coast of Ireland in approximately 15 - 20 m of water. The seabed was formed into a series of limestone ridges with patches of boulders and gravel between. The ridges had vertical, well broken faces characterised by a rich fauna of hydroids and bryozoans. The horizontal faces had a sparse kelp park with red and brown foliose algae. Depths varied from between 15.9 m BCD to approximately 14.2 m BCD.

Subsite: Infralittoral limestone bedrock, boulders and gravel with hydroids and bryozoans. details
Subsite Description: Infralittoral ridges of limestone bedrock with patches of boulders and gravel in the gullies between. Upper faces supported red foliose algae and hydroids, particularly Halecium halecinum with Pentapora foliacea. Vertical surfaces were heavily pitted and bored, with sponges Dysidea fragilis and Dercitus bucklandi and a dense cover of hydroids and bryozoans, in particular Aglaophenia spp., Lafoea dumosa and Cellaria sinuosa. A diverse and interesting habitat.
