Calliaghcrom Rock (Deace's Rock), Clare Island.

Site Description: The site was located to the east of an intertidal rock located at the northern extremity of an island on the west coast of Ireland. The island is at the mouth of a large bay and moderately strong tidal streams run past the rock. The seabed consisted of parallel ridges of rock forming deep gullies running down to 35 m BCD. The deeper part of the gullies were dominated by Corynactis viridis and Caryophyllia smithii, while the shallower water (above 22 m BCD) had Tubularia indivisa and a few red algae.

Subsite: Infralittoral bedrock with moderate tidal stream, Metridium senile/Sagartia elegans. details

Subsite Description: Infralittoral bedrock with moderate tidal streams. The rock formed parallel gullies with vertical and overhanging walls covered with Tubularia indivisa and the anemones Metridium senile and Sagartia elegans.

Subsite: Circalittoral bedrock gullies with moderate tidal streams. details

Subsite Description: Gullies in bedrock in the circalittoral zone. The walls of the gullies were covered with Alcyonium digitatum, Corynactis viridis and Antedon bifida. The hydroid Gymnangium montagui was common and the bryozoans Flustra foliacea and Securiflustra securifrons were frequent.
