Site Description: The site was located north-west of a large headland, the most northerly one, on the north coast of Ireland, and close to some islets. The substratum was bedrock between 23 and 26.7 m, above this the rock was not surveyed. At 26.7 m the substratum was gravel and was not surveyed. The bedrock was gently sloping with some steps and clefts and overhangs at right angles to the steps. The bedrock was in the lower infralittoral with sparse kelp but abundant bryozoans and tunicates and some red foliose algae. The jewel anemone Corynactis viridis was common.

Subsite Description: Tideswept, sand scoured bedrock with bryozoans, ascidians and Corynactis viridis. Crimora papillata was frequent on Securiflustra securifrons.
