Site Description: The site was located in a cave on the north-east side of a north facing headland on the north-west coast of Ireland. The cave was 12 m BCD in depth at the entrance and approximately 15 m in width. The bottom of the cave was round mobile cobbles and the bottom 1.5 m of the cave wall were smooth and bare except for an occasional Urticina felina and patches of Botryllus schlosseri. From 3 to 8 m BCD the sides of the cave towards the entrance were colonised by the sponge Leuconia nivea, Urticina felina, encrusting sponges and Bryozoa. As the cave narrowed towards the back, Clathrina coriacea, Salmacina dysteri, and Sagartia elegans were the most conspicuous species.
