Site Description: Located off the extreme south-eastern tip of Ireland in an area subject to strong tidal streams. The seabed at 23 m BCD was areas of broken bedrock outcropping in coarse clean sand. The bedrock was subject to sand scour and covered in a dense layer of Musculus spp. which in turn trapped a layer of sand. Urticina felina was common with hydroids and tunicates abundant.

Subsite Description: Tideswept bedrock outcrops from coarse clean sand with a dense layer of superabundant Musculus forming a 100 % cover on the rock. Hydroids particularly Nemertesia antennina and tunicates Aplidium spp. were common. The sponges Cliona celata and Esperiopsis fucorum were frequent. Urticina felina was common near the sand/rock interface.
