Site Description: The site was located on an offshore rock charted depth 5.5 m, east of an offshore island on the south-east coast of Ireland. The site is subject to moderately strong tidal streams and oceanic water conditions. The topography of the seabed was complex, with large gullies with coarse shell gravel on the bases of the gullies. The site was very rich, with a wide variety of sponges, hydroids, bryozoans and tunicates.

Subsite: Upper circalittoral bedrock with diverse sponges. details
Subsite Description: Upper circalittoral bedrock with patches of coarse shelly gravel. The rock was rugged, with caves, gullies and overhangs. Vertical surfaces had abundant Chartella papyracea and horizontal surfaces had a wide variety of sponges and hydroids.
