Like E. grandicula (described elsewhere) but with smaller spores (9.5-16ųm long), and smaller macroconidia (9.5-13ųm long), the latter forming tiny swellings on the bark — even smaller than ‘bark pimples’ (Arthopyrenia species). It grows on hazel. Rare: from the northern half of Ireland.
