Amara lunicollis Schioedte, 1837

Description: A 7.5-9mm long Amara of wet meadows, marshes and peatlands. Widely distributed.

World Distribution: Circumpolar Boreo-temperate (56), found across Europe south to Iran and east across Siberia to northern N. America.

Irish Status: Very widespread but not very common. Also in peaty uplands in the north.

Ecology: Eurytopic and found on a variety of soil types. Recorded from gardens, pasture and Calluna heath up to moderate altitudes.
