Stellaria media in the strict sense is one of Northern Ireland's commonest plants - a weed of agricultural land and other disturbed soils. Allied to Stellaria media are two rarer and ecologically more restricted species: the more slender Stellaria pallida which is recorded from four places on sandy soils by the sea and Stellaria neglecta, a robust species for which we have little information at present.

All names: Stellaria media agg. (L.) Vill.
