Ligustrum ovalifolium
(Map updated: March 2008)

A species introduced from Japan and most familiar as a traditional garden hedging shrub, occasionally also found planted in shrubberies.

More unusually, it was sometimes used as a rural field hedging shrub in parts of south east Co Antrim in the nineteenth century, and today field boundaries composed entirely of this plant may still be found in this area.

All names: Ligustrum ovalifolium Hassk.
