One of a small group of superficially similar aquatic buttercups with white flowers and finely dissected submerged leaves which are known as the water-crowfoots.
Unlike most other species, Ranunculus trichophyllus does not also produce floating, lobed, leaves; all leaves are finely dissected, even when the plant is growing on mud instead of in water. It is rather rare.
