Summary of site: |
The spoil heaps at Glebe House are clear evidence of the mine, long abandoned, which appears to have worked a vein and fault crush zone containing a matrix of barite (barium sulphate) with small amounts of lead ore (galena). The host rock in which the veins occur is part of the Hawick Group of the Silurian period. |
