Summary of site:
The West Rising below Hanging Rock is frequently dry and it seems likely that it is the flood resurgence for the Eastern Rising in very wet conditions. Pollnasalac, a cave a short distance uphill, is associated with the rising. The entrance is a tight crawl through boulders for about 10m to a small chamber, followed by another squeeze into a 15m long chamber with a stream crossing the floor. At the southern end of the chamber the stream flows from a deep water rift ending in a sump around 10m long, leading to a second sump at least 40m long where boulders make further route exploration difficult.
