Summary of site: |
Drumarg is important for its geology and geomorphology that is its rocks and landforms. Developed on Carboniferous limestone, more recently rainwater has dissolved the limestone along zones of weakness. This resulted in the formation of a small cave system, probably part of a once larger network. The majority of Northern Ireland’s caves are found in Fermanagh so the caves at Drumarg are notable, despite their relatively small size. |
