Nominate flavicornis (Linnaeus, 1758) is not known from the British Isles. In Britain and Ireland, flavicornis are referable to the subspecies galbanus (Tutt, 1891). A Scottish subspecies of this species also exists i.e.flavicornis scotica (Tutt, 1888
