Garden pond - click to enlargeHABITAT & DIET: Newts eat small invertebrates both on land and in the water. Garden ponds have become extremely important for this species as ponds in the countryside have become fewer and more polluted. Habitat types range from large lakes to densely weeded ditches, but mostly small to medium sized ponds.
