Nathusius' pipistrelle Pipistrellus nathusii

Riparian habitat - click to enlargeHABITAT & DIET: Forages along rides, paths, woodland edge (deciduous and coniferous), meadows and also over water at half tree height. In comparison to the other two pipistrelle species, Nathusius' pipistrelle tends to avoid built up areas. Nathusius' pipistrelle is an aerial hawker and feeds on medium-sized flying insects such as flies, midges, mosquitoes, caddis flies and moths.
