Brown long-eared bat Plecotus auritus

Deciduous woodland (close up) - click to enlargeHABITAT & DIET: Brown long-eared bats listen to the sounds of insects and pick them off leaves and twigs on trees and bushes, scanning the foliage in an upward direction. They occasionally glean from grass or even the ground. They feed in open deciduous and coniferous woodland, parkland and gardens. They do not normally forage very far away from their roosts. Their prey includes spiders, moths, beetles and earwigs.
