HABITAT
& DIET: The grey seal is usually found on exposed rocky coasts but they
are sometimes located at other sites such as sand banks and estuaries. Although
grey seals rest on land, particularly at low tide, the majority of the population
is at sea at any one time. Grey seals are opportunistic hunters taking whatever
is available but catch mainly bottom-dwelling fish. Fish taken include cod,
whiting, sandeels, flatfish and mackerel. They also eat squid, crustaceans and
occasionally sea birds.
