This attractive species is similar to P. coccodes (described elsewhere), but differs markedly in the longer, more cylindrical, isidia and greenish or yellowish grey thallus, never brown-pink. This species tests K+ yellow-orange, whereas in P. coccodes, it is K+ yellow to red. Usually woodland edge trees rather than dusty waysides. In Ireland, this species is known only from County Antrim.
