Very like P. omphalodes (described elsewhere) but is a consistent dark brown colour. Generally, P. discordans is a more slender species with narrower lobes (1-2mm wide) regularly overlapping. Spot test: Medulla K- (P. omphalodes is K+ orange-red). Local in the north and east.

Key characteristics

  • Almost identical to P. omphalodes but smaller, with narrower, overlapping lobes and an overall dark brown colour
  • The medulla (inner white cottony layer) tests K negative.
