This small crustose lichen grows mostly on calcareous surfaces and mortar. Both the thallus and the tightly aggregated red-brown to black discs are densely frosted with white pruina. Spot tests negative. The spores are one-septate. The species is local in Ireland.

Key characteristics

  • Brown to black densely frosted discs; not unlike Lecanora crenulata in size
  • Spores one-septate; on calcareous walls and rock.
