This species is similar in all respects to M. jungermanniae (described elsewhere), other than discs lacking the blue-green pigmentation and their consequent white or pinkish appearance. It grows in similar conditions and habitats to M. jungermanniae. Very rare in Ireland.

Key characteristics

  • Thallus inapparent, discs white or pinkish when moist
  • Spores simple; like M. jungermanniae, a montane lichen of leafy liverworts.
