This is a rather poorly-known species and current concepts now agree that this is a montane taxon found growing on leafy liverworts. The thallus is inconspicuous but the discs turn blue-green when moistened; it is almost black when dry. The simple spores are within the range 1623 x 812m. In Ireland, the species is known from County Donegal.

Key characteristics

  • Thallus inapparent, discs blue-green when wet or moist, but black when dry
  • Spores simple; a montane lichen of leafy liverworts.
