This crustose, ‘pin-head’ lichen grows on the wood of hollow trunks (holly especially) and in dry-bark crevices. It has an immersed thallus. The head and short stalks have a dense, yellow-green dusting of pruina and a dark brown spore mass. The spores are almost spherical. In Ireland, the species is known from County Fermanagh and west Donegal.
