Only known from west Donegal this blue-grey to cream-coloured, dust-particle-sized powder lichen grows on rock surfaces sheltered from the rain, or overgrowing mosses when on rock underhangs in woodland. Chemical analysis is required for certain identification; K+ yellowish.

Key characteristics

  • Very finely powdery (like talcum); thallus grey to cream-coloured, attached to sheltered rock or underhang mosses
  • Occurs in woodland up to montane altitudes (t.l.c. necessary for certain id.).
