A conspicuous bright orange foliose lichen forming large wrinkled patches ascending slightly at the margins. The lobes are generally narrower and more divided than in Xanthoria parietina and apothecia are generally scarce. Common in the 'Orange Zone', but often abundant in the 'Grey Zone'.
