Look for this ‘beard’ lichen on coniferous trees and wooden fence posts in high-rainfall areas. The pale green to yellow-green colour, straggling habit with numerous short branches projecting from the main branches which are packed with isidia, gives it a distinctive fish-bone appearance. Where it occurs, it can become local abundant. Upland areas in Ireland, but currently absent from the south.
