The thallus of this rare species resembles M. prasina (described elsewhere) but differs in its numerous stalked, stick-like pycnidia which are brown coloured and thinly white-veiled. It occurs mainly in northern and western Ireland where old oak stumps are favoured.
Key characteristics
- Thallus green to grey-green with numerous stick-like pycnidia (to 1mm tall)
- Pycnidia brown, and thinly white-sheathed; on old decaying oak stumps.
