This minute, gelatinous, granular-crustose lichen grows on shaded calcareous rocks in western Ireland. It resembles a miniaturised version of a soil-dwelling Leptogium. The dull red discs with yellow-brown exciple distinguish it from all lookalikes.

Key characteristics

  • Like a miniature Leptogium with minute reddish discs on a granular thallus
  • Below shaded pebbles, boulders, scree on limestone cliffs; associated with calcareous rocks.
