An epiphyte of twigs and timber fencing L. varia has a rather shiny thallus of small, warty, yellow-grey to green-grey granules sometimes forming a crust. Discs: pale greenish or brown (to 1.5mm diam.), with a flexed, sometimes considerably distorted rim (exciple). Thallus is Pd + Yellow. Eastern and south-eastern Ireland.
