The extensively cracked, green-yellow thallus of this maritime lichen occupies some of the most south-westerly coastline in Ireland. It is a species of vertical, siliceous sea cliffs and can be told by its wavy, tan to black or piebald, closely grouped discs and K+ yellow-blood red, Pd+ orange-red spot tests. In Ireland, the species is known from Counties Cork and Kerry.
