The society organises talks, lectures & workshops mainly from September to April. During the summer months, there is a series of garden visits throughout Ireland. Plant Sales are held regularly in Dublin, Cork & Belfast and a Seed List is published each year from which members may choose a selection. In order to reach as many of our members as possible, the events are organised on a regional basis. Often the events are arranged in association with other groups or societies; regular partners include the National Botanic Gardens Glasnevin, The Ulster Museum, the Royal Horticultural Society, the Royal Horticultural Society of Ireland, the Alpine Garden Society, Belfast City Council Parks Dept. and Antrim Borough Council.
We also act as co-ordinators in Ireland for the NCCPG National Plant Collections Scheme. Currently there are collections of Dianella, Libertia, Phiormium, Penstemon (large flowered cvs), Eucryphia, Escallonia, Narcissus (Guy Wilson introductions), Olearia, Garrya, Potentilla fruticosa (cvs) and a collection of plants introduced by the Slieve Donard Nursery.
Members of the society are entitled (and encouraged) to attend events in all of the regions. However, distance prevents many people from travelling outside their own locality, so for convenience the events are listed by geographical region.
