Amara consularis (Duftschmid, 1812)
Description: A rare and declining 8-9.5mm brownish Amara found in open conditions on sand or gravel near the sea.
World Distribution: A Eurasian Wide-temperate species (65) found across Europe south to the Caucasus and east to central Siberia.
Irish Status: Restricted to the east coast and now very rare and without modern records.
Ecology: Xerophilic and restricted to open situations and drier soils near the coast. In Fennoscandia recorded with A. bifrons and A. fulva in dry fallow fields (Lindroth, 1986).
