Amara lucida (Duftschmid, 1812)

Description: 4.5-6.5mm long bronze Amara of dry sandy grassland and sand dunes. Widespread but very local. Very close to A. familiaris and perhaps under-recorded.
 

World Distribution: A European Southern-temperate species (83) found across Europe, except most of Fennoscandia, to Asia Minor and Iran.
 

Irish Status: Widely distributed but very local and rare and mainly near the coast. Coastal in Britain and restricted to England and Wales (Luff, 1998).
 

Ecology: Mostly in dune grassland on coasts.
