Notiophilus germinyi Fauvel, 1863

Description: Small (4.5-5.5mm) bronze ground beetle of open ground, usually on peatlands at moderate to high altitude. Probably widespread in Ireland, but most current records are for the north.
 

World Distribution: A European Boreo-temperate species (53) found across Europe north of the Pyrenees, east to the Caucasus.
 

Irish Status: Widespread but local across Ireland.
 

Ecology: Mainly in drier habitats. Recorded from dwarf shrub heaths and rough grassland up to the summits of mountains, often with N. aquaticus. Also reported from sandy coastal habitats.
