A commonly planted and vigorous shrub, often planted in hedges especially near the coast. rather tender, but can be easily cultivated in coastal regions of Northern Ireland. A variety with pale pink, almost white, flowers, called Fuchsia magellanica var. molinae, is quite frequently planted in gardens.
