Origin: New Zealand (North Island)

A vigorous, climbing evergreen shrub of the pea family with brilliant red, curious claw-like flowers. It is slightly tender, and is usually grown against a wall. There are several red and two white cultivars grown in gardens.

Fruits (pods)

Flowers are succeeded by large dangling pea pods.
