Family: Compositae (Asteraceae) Origin: New Zealand Sometimes placed in the genus Senecio. Common shrub in gardens of Northern Ireland, especially near the coast. Abundant yellow daisy-like flowers produced in midsummer. Leaves oval, silver-grey. The garden plants are hybrids derived from crossing three New Zealand wild plants: Brachyglottis compacta, B. greyiand B. laxifolia, first originating in the Dunedin Botanic Garden, New Zealand. Many gardeners still refer to these garden plants as "Senecio greyi". | ||
