A subspecies of Calystegia sepium which has a distinctly western and coastal distribution. Best seen on Ireland's west coast (eg about Killybegs in Co Donegal) but with a few sites in Northern Ireland such as Rathlin Island. It has a pink flower instead of the normal white form of the subsp. sepium
