Bromus hordeaceus
(Map updated: March 2008)

Soft brome is a rather variable annual or biennial plant, from about four inches to three feet tall, producing fat egg-shaped spikelets of flowers at the ends of the panicle branches; rather soft to the touch. It can be found in a wide variety of habitats including meadows, stone walls, waste ground, roadside verges etc. in lowland situations.

An alternative name found in older books is Bromus mollis.
