Flora of Northern Ireland
Centaurea cyanus
(Map updated: March 2008)

This was formerly known as a weed of arable crops, especially grain crops, but has become very rare with improvements in seed-cleaning techniques. This species is related to the knapweed (Centaurea nigra), but is not a true native to Ireland. (Compare corn-cockle, Agrostemma githago).
