A rare species of the upper seashore, usually on rocks or shingle, occasionally (eg at the Bann mouth) on sand dunes. This northern plant is at its southern limit in Europe at its Northern Ireland sites, which extend as far south as the Copeland Islands.

All names: Ligusticum scoticum L.; Haloscias scotica (L.) Fr.
