Salicornia sp.
(Map updated: March 2008)

These are short, fleshy, leafless plants of saltmarshes and coastal mudflats and their distribution mirrors that of these habitats. Their flowers are tiny and inconspicuous, embedded in the shoots.

The individual species are difficult to distinguish and it is unclear at present which species grow around the Northern Ireland coasts apart from Salicornia europaea.

All names: Salicornia sp.
