Atriplex glabriuscula Chenopodiaceae Babington's Orache
Atriplex glabriuscula
Map updated: March 2008
Species Description:
One of the two commonest seashore oraches (Atriplex spp.) to be found in plenty around Northern Ireland's coast. The other is A. prostrata, and the two are sometimes grouped together for convenience as the A. prostrata aggregate. The fruit is enclosed by two triangular bracteoles, which are fused for some distance above the base, unlike those of A. prostrata which are fused only at their bases. The two species often grow together.
All names: Atriplex glabriuscula Edmondston
