Chelidonium majus
(Map updated: March 2008)

The Greater Celandine is totally unrelated to the Lesser Celandine and is much less common. It is a member of the poppy family although in general appearance it is more like a member of the cabbage family. Like all poppies it produces a latex when the stem is broken. The latex is bright yellow and has been used in folk-medicine. Probably an ancient introduction.

All names: Chelidonium majus L.; Chelidonium laciniatum Mill.
