Papaver rhoeas
(Map updated: March 2008)

A scarlet-flowered poppy, usually with a dark blotch at the base of each of the four petals, very bristly and with an almost spherical seed capsule. (The somewhat similar Papaver dubium usually has no blotches on the petals, which are also of a paler hue, and the seed capsule is elongated.)

A weed of arable crops and disturbed ground.

All names: Papaver rhoeas L.
