This grass is similar to Holcus lanatus (Yorkshire fog) but has rather shorter leaves and is less hairy generally, but the nodes are 'bearded' with long hairs (i.e. it has hairy knees!). It is frequent in dry grassy places.

All names: Holcus mollis L.
