Serapias cordigera

Heart-flowered serapias; SÚrapias en coeur; Herzformige Stendelwurz; Satiriobarbone

Mainly in the western Mediterranean countries, but reaching eastwards as far as southern Turkey; western north Africa

This serapias has a rather broad, heart-shaped lip. It is found in maquis, open woods, olive groves and grassland; ascending to 1000 metres altitude.
